Becoming a trading master
If you are serious about trading, just setting up an account with a broker will become too small a process for you. The best traders see their trading as a business. If you wish to develop a long term trading career then this is a very serious consideration.
Whatever markets you are trading or considering trading in the future, your mission starts here. It is difficult for me to convery the opportunities which await you in the future. If you can get it right, you really do have the opportunity to build wealth beyond anything you could imagine.
Experience is More Valuable
The first few years of trading should be considered “learning years”. This is not the time to make a killing, this is the time to preserve capital and educate yourself fully about the whole process of trading. Believe me, this single early choice could save you years of heartache and a significant percentage of your current net worth.
The difference between a successful trader and a losing trader is how they deal with mistakes. Good traders make note of what they did wrong and learn from their mistakes. Bad traders make the same mistakes over and over again.
Here are some searching questions to ask yourself each time a trade does not go your way: 1. Did you do something wrong or did something happen that could not be avoided? 2. How can you prevent it happening again in the future? 3. Why did you make that decision in the first place and what should you have done?
Trading lessons can be expensive. Whatever the mistake, looking back at your previous trades and learning from them can teach you a significant amount. The loss is the cost of gaining valuable experience.
Paper Trading - Does it Work?
Countless books and courses advocate the use of paper trading (simulating your trades without using real funds) to build understanding and test your approach. The reality however is that as soon as you start trading for real, the whole world of trading changes.
I recommend the use of paper trading to gain understanding and to test the theory of your trading system or market approach. One important thing to note is this: if you cannot be successful trading your system on paper, you will have no chance trading it for real, In this sense paper trading can save a significant percentage of your funds.
Commitment is Key
Many traders end up losers because they give up after a single losing period. But to be a winning trader you must be determined to be in it for the long haul. It is the desire to grow and improve yourself. Being committed means always looking at your faults and ways to correct them and it is a lifelong process. It means reading books, going on seminars and being the best you can be.
Becoming a successful trader is about progressive development rather than overnight success. It is for this reason I have developed a series of steps to take you closer to the success you desire. By following these steps you will be able to generate impressive trading results as you effectively manage your risk, time and trading funds.
In Part Six of Learn To Trade Markets, the final section, I take you through each of the steps you need to take to develop yourself into a master trader. Most of these steps were developed by me and have been proven to work time and time again.
Remember, as you gradually move forward as a trader you begin to leave behind all the other less effective traders and start to reap the rewards of being an outstanding player of the trading game. Trader, believe me, once reach this point it is worth it’s weight in gold quite literally. Imagine how delightful it will feel to reach this level…
