Using stops is probably the single biggest problem traders and investors have in the market. Most people have so much trouble using them, because they don’t know where to put them and keep getting shaken out of their positions, that they stop using them. That sets them up for a very dangerous situation. If you don’t use stops you are in danger of having a stock one day crash on you. Imagine if you owned Bear Stearns when it went bankrupt and didn’t have a stop loss order. You would have seen your stock go from 30 to zero in just days. I’m sure it happened to lots of people, because you know that the people who owned it at 30 could not have conceived of it falling so far so fast. But it happened. And in fact happens often to some stock in the market every month and that’s why you use stops - they protect you from the unknown. There is really no excuse for holding through such a drop and the only reason people do is because they don’t use sell stop orders. And you know why they don’t use them - they either don’t know how or are afraid they’ll get shaken out. But the key to making money in the market is to cut your losers - so you keep your losses small - and let your winners run. Everyone knows this. And it sounds like a simple concept, but people don’t know how to do it. In this video and in a follow up video I’ll send you I’ll show you exactly how.
